Our Reviews
McGrath Review Do not recommend In what shouldāve been a seamless process turned into a pretty lengthy ordeal. Came in to check out a 2025 Tacoma that they list there were two available on the lot. Turned out they only had one available in the lot since the manager has the other in his possession. Salesman told us there was no budging with pricing. Salesman made at least three trips to sales floor manager. Sales manager did not even leave his desk to come and talk to my wife and I about pricing. This is my third Toyota purchased since 2005. This is my last purchased at this dealership. Seems like loyalty to Toyota at this dealership gets you nowhere. Not even a hand shake or conversation with their sales manager who seemed too busy to bother with our purchase. We had money to put down, our own financing, and pretty much Toyota dealership would be paid out that day through our financing (as if it was a cash purchase made on our end since dealership paid out that day and we pay our financing company vs Toyota). Respect goes a long way. Iāll not be purchasing another vehicle from here. If the vehicle I wanted wasnāt readily available at this dealership i wouldāve taken my time, money, and family elsewhere. Not pleased. Letās see how the truck holds up. Luckily the manager left 1 of the two vehicles they listed as available in the dealership lot.
Avoid this dealership due to misleading practices. On March 28th, I visited McGrath Elmhurst Toyota to purchase a brand-new vehicle. I initially worked with Melissa, who seemed to promise a smooth transaction. I was interested in an SE Hybrid, but since it wasn't available, Melissa offered me another vehicle that was listed as "for sale but in transit." She emphasized that cars were selling quickly and persuaded me to put down a $1000 deposit after confirming availability with her manager. However, upon returning home, I discovered the dealershipās website still listed the vehicle as "available but in transit," and the status changed to "vehicle in transit, sale pending" the next day. Between March 28th and April 16th, I received sporadic updates from Melissa, stating that the vehicle would likely arrive mid-April. On April 17th, I emailed her for another status update but received no response. Instead, I got a text message from the dealership stating that the vehicle was still in the "build phase" and wouldn't be ready until May 4thāa completely different vehicle than the one I had placed a deposit on. When I visited the dealership in person to resolve the issue, I met the manager, Casey, who was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. Casey falsely claimed that someone else had placed a deposit on the original vehicle before me, contradicting what Melissa had initially said. Furthermore, while at the dealership for the first time, I checked smart.path.toyota website, which showed the car available to start online purchase. Casey then tried to push me to accept another car in the "build phase" instead. When I insisted on receiving the vehicle outlined in my purchase agreement (which was manufactured in Japan), he brazenly told me to "forget about it" and shockingly stated that the purchase agreement I had signed "doesn't mean anything." This experience highlighted deceptive sales tactics, poor communication, and a lack of integrity at McGrath Elmhurst Toyota. I strongly advise others to be cautious and reconsider dealing with this dealership.
Bought a used Tacoma in January, felt like we got a fair deal, met Edgar Martinez; Younger gentleman, Not your typical car salesman, not full of xx. Edgar worked closely with me, built the exact trim level and accessories I wanted; he did not push anything extra on me. Dealership was transparent with the pricing from day one. Yes I paid MSRP, but nothing extra, they did not push anything, no dealer installed options, and no market adjustment. ( I did wait 2 & 1/2 months, but I got exactly what I wanted)
Justin made the experience of buying my daughterās first car absolutely wonderful! From the moment we walked in, he welcomed us with genuine warmth and made us feel at ease. He took the time to explain everything in detail, patiently answering all our questionsāno matter how small. Justin was there every step of the way, ensuring we understood every part of the process. I truly appreciated his dedication and the care he showed. He made what could have been an overwhelming experience smooth and enjoyable. Thank you, Justin, for making this milestone so special for our family!
My issue began after leaving with the vehicle and driving it for a day. The Bluetooth microphone never worked. I couldnāt make calls, couldnāt give voice commands, couldnāt do anything that required me to speak to it. That might not sound like the worst thing in the world, but I drive all over the place for work and to get the kids where they need to go. Iām always on the phone, and this completely removes that aspect. This issue wasnāt disclosed to me before or at the time of purchase (likely because you guys didnāt check), and on the website, Bluetooth was listed as one of the features. So, I called back the next day and spoke to Casey, who told me to try bringing it to Volkswagen. I didnāt buy the car from them. Why would I bring it to them? So then he says to bring it to you guys, Iāll get a loaner, youāll take a look, and I wonāt pay anything. Good stuff, thatās what I would expect from a "reputable" dealership. I brought it in around 4 pm Thursday (just a little over 24 hours after buying the vehicle) to have it checked out. I got a loaner (Virginia was awesome), and I was on my way, hoping to hear something back the next day as to a timeline or update. I called four times, left messages, and got no returned calls. I called again around 5, got bounced around, and I refused to let anyone hang up without giving me some sort of update (by the way, somebody actually told me they couldnāt put me on hold anymore). Eventually, I got the receptionist (whoās great), and she said Dan would call me. He did and explained that the car went to VW earlier in the day, and he hadnāt heard back yet. Thatās at least something. So not completely terrible yet. Monday comes, and Iām hoping for good news (80+ hours with the loaner vehicle, 27 with the vehicle purchased for 25k + some other package from your dealership, if youāre keeping track). Early afternoon, I reached out again since nobody proactively contacted me, and finally, I spoke to Evan, whom I tried multiple times to reach on Friday. He tells me that Dan will contact me. Dan calls and says he hadnāt heard from VW yet but will call me again later with an update. Dan calls at 5:50 to say VW sees the problem, they ordered a part, and are hopeful they will have it fixed tomorrow (Tuesday). Iām excited, thinking I might get my car back Tuesday or Wednesday at worst. Tuesday comes (104+ hours with the loaner vehicle, 27 with the vehicle purchased for 25k + some other $2,000 package from your dealership, if youāre still keeping track), and Dan calls me around 2:15 and leaves a message saying the part didnāt work and they have to order it specially, which will take 3-5 days. I called VW myself to verify, and yes, itās a part that takes 3-5 days (I actually called two VW dealerships to verify this), but it sounds like they did not start working on it until Monday, which is the reason for all the delays. That could have been communicated better. But all this now means that I searched and searched for a car for 3-4 weeks, test-drove multiple vehicles, then made the decision to buy from McGrath Toyota instead of any side-of-the-road dealership because I assumed you did your due diligence on a car you would sell, only to have my car for 27 hours. Meanwhile, I have to drive this loaner vehicle for a minimum of an entire week, but it could last into next week depending on the delivery of the OCU module. By the way, in my initial message to Casey on Thursday, 8/15, I told him that the OCU module was likely the issue and even linked to an article that explains the issue completely. But hey, 5 days later, VW sees it too. I'm frustrated. I thought I was getting better than this when buying at Mcgrath. I have a 16 year old who I plan on buying a car for around the holidays then 3 more kids 7-8 years down the line who will need cars also. I will not be buying from any McGrath.
I visited this dealership on on7/29/24 and left with my dream first car. My salesperson Dave, was very knowledge and nice, not pushy what so ever. Made my first car purchase memorable!
This is a nice modern medium-sized operation located very conveniently for me. I did my shopping online and they had a used car I wanted in inventory at a price I expected so it was a pretty easy sale for them. My salesperson Dave and the other staff were knowledgeable and efficient. I have not yet used their service department so I can not rate them.
Salesman Edgar Martinez was great and everything was great. Everyone at Toyota dealership was great.
Great customer service. Michelangelo in the parts department helped me find exactly what I needed while also being very knowledgeable.
