The 2021 Toyota Corolla aims to please customers of dealers like Elmhurst Toyota with a special new model: The Corolla Apex Edition. This new sport sedan edition will do more than turn heads; it also features driving dynamics that will appeal to driving enthusiasts. The name comes from track-driving vernacular that refers to clipping the apex of a corner to attain the fastest lap times. The Apex Edition is an option package that can be added to the Corolla SE or XSE trim levels.

2021 Toyota Corolla Apex EditionToyota will make 6,000 Corolla Apex Editions available for 2021. The Apex Edition makes the most of the Corolla sedan’s TNGA-C platform, multi-link rear suspension, and 2.0-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine that generates 169-horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. The sport-tuned exhaust gives the Corolla Apex Edition some more growl.

Most models will be equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Toyota’s Dynamic Shift CVT can simulate 10-speed Sequential Shiftmatic steps and features a Sport Mode and paddle shifters. Drivers looking to row their own gears will appreciate the six-speed manual transmission, which will be made available on 120 Apex Edition models based on the SE trim. This gearbox automatically adjusts engine revs when the driver changes gears, providing smooth shifting.

Fuel efficiency is outstanding, with EPA-estimated fuel economy rated at 31 mpg city/41 mpg highway with the CVT (31/38 for the XSE) and 29 mpg city/36 mpg highway with the six-speed manual transmission.

The Corolla Apex Edition has plenty of curb appeal, with a sporty, aerodynamic black body kit complete with a front spoiler, side moldings, fog light covers, bronze accents and a rear diffuser. Drivers who want to present a more aggressive look will want the optional rear trunk aero spoiler.

The Apex Edition’s exclusive track-tuned suspension was developed as the result of testing at various tracks across the globe, including Japan’s TMC Higashi-Fuji Proving Ground, MotorSport Ranch in Texas and Toyota Arizona Proving Ground.
