An Ever-Widening Circle: Elmhurst University at 150 explores the story of the relationship between Elmhurst University and the city of Elmhurst. This exhibit at the Elmhurst History Museum runs through January 22, 2022 and is part of a year-long celebration of Elmhurst University’s sesquicentennial. At McGrath Elmhurst Toyota, we’re appreciative of the Elmhurst History Museum’s many enlightening and educational exhibits and efforts charting the city’s rich history. We hope that Elmhurst residents have a chance to come out and experience this exciting exhibit.

An Ever-Widening Circle: Elmhurst University at 150 “I think it can be said that the Elmhurst University we see today would not be what it is without this rich history and close relationship to its hometown,” said Dan Bartlett, curator of exhibits at the Elmhurst History Museum. “It’s hard to imagine one without the other and the two entities have evolved together in many ways.

An Ever-Widening Circle: Elmhurst University at 150 includes a detailed timeline, rare photos, an extensive collection of ephemera, video clips and more. The exhibit highlights the ways Elmhurst University has grown and changed over its 150-year history, from its origins as a German theological proseminary to today’s contemporary university.

Museum-goers can explore areas such as academics, university faculty, campus life, and sports. When you visit, you’ll learn about student life in the late 1800s, the development of sports programs, and the inclusion of women and minorities. Archive items on display include rare 1940 film footage, school spirit items, photos and manuscripts, and a lot more.

An Ever-Widening Circle: Elmhurst University at 150 is sponsored by Community Bank of Elmhurst, Feze Roofing, and Storino, Ramello & Durkin Attorneys at Law.
