Attend the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival – Elmhurst Toyota Dealer
There’s still time to get tickets and make plans to attend the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival. The festival, which takes place at Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel, begins on Thursday, Feb. 20 and runs through Sunday, Feb. 23. The Elmhurst College Jazz Festival is held annually and showcases some of America’s best college jazz ensembles. Each college jazz band is critiqued by some of the biggest names in professional jazz, followed by a performance by the pros, including The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Bobby Floyd and many others. We’re sure this will be an event to remember, so all of us at Elmhurst Toyota encourage you to check out one or all of the performances.
The Elmhurst College Jazz Festival is an excellent opportunity for college jazz ensembles to get tips from the leading professional jazz musicians, while providing audiences a chance to check out the college jazz bands and the pros.
The roots of the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival go back to 1968, with the establishment of the American College Jazz Festival. This series of competitions was held at sites across the country, including Elmhurst College. The winning vocalist, band and combo from each local festival went on to compete at the national festival on Memorial Day weekend. While the American College Jazz Festival ended in 1973, Elmhurst College has kept the tradition alive with the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival.
If you love great music, you won’t want to miss this event!
