Catch a Train at Model Railroad Madness – Elmhurst Toyota Dealer
You don’t have to be a kid to love trains. Anyone who is captivated by model railroads is invited for some miniature train fun when the Elmhurst History Museum presents Model Railroad Madness on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. in the museum’s Education Center. The event features elaborate track layouts, complete with detailed landscapes, railroad cars, buildings and people. At Elmhurst Toyota, we think this is a great way to spend the day with the kids. No registration is necessary, and children of all ages are welcome to attend.
Model Railroad Madness will appeal to serious model railroad enthusiasts as well as train enthusiasts. This free program is produced by members of Chicagoland T-Trak, a dedicated group of model railroad fans and collectors who enjoy “N-scale” trains and layouts. Visitors to the presentation will get a chance to view the group’s inventive track setups and discover the world of model trains. Members of T-Track will be on hand to share information and answer questions. Kids can create their own Morse code beaded bracelets and their own engineer hats.
Model Railroad Madness is organized along with the Elmhurst History Museum’s new exhibit, called “On the Right Track: By Rail to Chicago & Beyond,” which opens on Nov. 14, 2019 and runs through March 29, 2020. This exhibit investigates the railroad’s effect on the suburban environment and explores people’s experiences as passengers and as railroad employees. The Exhibit features many railroad-related objects, including equipment, uniforms, signs and more. “On the Right Track” is free, and attendees of Model Railroad Madness are invited to visit before or after the event.
