The Elmhurst Art Museum presents Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross through Aug. 20, 2023. This extraordinary exhibition celebrates the work of Alex Ross, a Chicago-based artist who has spent nearly 30 years transforming classic superheroes into works of fine art. The exhibition features cover art, sketches, and life-size busts, showcasing characters such as Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm from the X-Men, the Avengers, Black Panther, and many more. At Elmhurst Toyota, we’re grateful for the wonderful art exhibits the Elmhurst Art Museum offers the community. We hope everyone will head out to the museum and check out this show.

Marvelocity: The Art of Alex RossVisitors will also have the opportunity to learn about Ross’s evolution as an illustrator through a display of his childhood drawings, preliminary sketches, paintings, and sculptures of characters in the Marvel Universe. In addition, the exhibition includes a variety of events, such as family days and comic book workshops.

In a unique twist, Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross also features an outdoor installation of eight life-sized superheroes in Wilder Park, created by area students and artists. This public display will remain in place through the end of July to coincide with the Marvelocity exhibition. Additionally, the museum is hosting a community initiative to recognize Everyday Heroes in a comic-book style, allowing visitors to nominate individuals making a difference in their communities.
