Christmas Jazz with the Alyssa Allgood Quartet – Elmhurst Toyota Dealer

Jazz returns to Bethel United Church of Christ’s concert series with a sparkling performance by the Alyssa Allgood Quartet on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. This event, part of the Music@Bethel Concert Series, is set to bring a festive atmosphere to Elmhurst with a blend of Christmas favorites and original compositions. Alyssa Allgood, a Chicago-based jazz vocalist, has been making a name for herself in the jazz world with her silky soprano voice and innovative approach to music. Her repertoire for the evening includes traditional and contemporary Christmas songs, in addition to two of her own holiday compositions. Allgood’s talents extend beyond singing; she’s also a bandleader, educator, and composer. Her skill in sophisticated song interpretation has been praised by the Chicago Tribune for adding a modern flair to the jazz tradition. Her engaging arrangements and infectious swing are set to make every Christmas song a delight, promising to brighten the holiday season for all attendees.

The quartet comprises Allgood on vocals, Tom Vaitsas on piano, Katie Ernst on bass, and Neil Hemphill on drums. Allgood’s reputation precedes her, as she has performed at prominent venues like the Jazz at Lincoln Center Club in Shanghai, Birdland Jazz Club in New York City, and the Chicago Jazz Festival. Her expressive performances and varied roles as a scat singer, interpreter, and lyricist demonstrate her versatility.
