Compete in Elmhurst Running Club’s 4 on the 4th
If you’ve been looking for an event for July 4, why not compete in 4 on the 4th? The 17th edition of this four-mile race is sponsored by the Elmhurst Running Club. The race starts south of the Elmhurst University main gates and kicks off at 7:15 a.m. A 1K race for kids ages 5-12 begins at 8:20 a.m. The races start and finish on Prospect Ave., between Elmhurst University and Wilder Park. At McGrath Elmhurst Toyota, we think this is the perfect way for runners to begin their Independence Day.
Runners will compete for performance-based cash prizes. Each prize will be awarded to one male and one female runner:
- First place: $200
- Second place: $125
- Third place: $75
- There will be an additional $400 cash prize for setting the course record.
The race is USATF-certified and is a CARA Runner’s Choice Circuit. The 4 on the 4th course is mostly flat, but there are three small hills. There will be markers at each mile. The course includes two water stops near the 1.5- and 2.5-mile points. Water will be available at the start and finish.
4 on the 4th is a runner’s race. Bicycles, skates, scooters, strollers, or other wheeled vehicles are not allowed on the course. Pets are also prohibited. The race will take place rain or shine.
