Discover Teaming With Life

Art lovers, families with kids, and anyone looking for a fun spring outing will enjoy Teaming with Life, an exhibit featuring the work of artist couple Anne Farley Gaines and Geoffrey Novelli. Running from May 5 through June 11, 2022, at the Elmhurst Art Museum, the exhibit features several art media and multimedia formats. At McGrath Elmhurst Toyota, we applaud the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild Gallery for showcasing this incredible art display.

Teaming with Life depicts nature and humanity through different art forms. The show features watercolors, mixed-media paintings, and ceramics created by Gaines; sculptures and mixed-media by Novelli; and collaborative works by the two artists.

One exciting addition to the exhibit is Project Illumination EAG, a collection of works by several EAG members. With a concept by Gaines, Project Illumination EAG incorporates LED light-filled vessels and sculptures displayed in different media. Gaines’ motive behind the unique project was to collaborate with other artists and stimulate talent-sharing and creativity between Guild members. The exhibit symbolizes the need for more physical and spiritual illumination in the world.

Gaines and Novelli are Elmhurst Artists’ Guild members who live in Chicago. Married in 2009, they first exhibited together in 2010 at Chicago’s ARC Gallery. They titled their first exhibit Rebirth. Since then, the couple has exhibited together three times. One of their most memorable exhibitions, Parallel Visions, debuted at the Principia College Holt Gallery in 2014, where Gaines taught public art and mixed-media painting. Both artists are also skilled in ceramics, with Novelli creating ceramic shapes and Gaines glazing them. Teaming with Life is the couple’s fifth two-person exhibition.
