Egg hunts are a long-standing tradition to celebrate the beginning of spring in many cultures around the world. The custom of decorating and hiding eggs dates back thousands of years, with records of egg hunts found in ancient Roman and Greek societies. The egg symbolizes new life and renewal, making it the perfect symbol of spring. The concept of the Easter Bunny hiding eggs originated in Germany and was brought to the United States in the 1700s by German immigrants.

Egg hunts have evolved over the years and have become more elaborate, with variations popping up all over the world. One of the most popular egg hunts is the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, which began in 1878 under President Rutherford B. Hayes. The event involves rolling decorated eggs across the White House lawn, and children from across the country participate in the fun.
