The 105th Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade promises to be a memorable event, showcasing the community’s spirit and commemorating our nation’s brave servicemen and servicewomen. The parade, which takes place on Monday, May 29, is organized by the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry in cooperation with the City of Elmhurst and Elmhurst veterans’ organizations. The event will be led by Grand Marshal Russell F. Caforio, a United States Army combat veteran of the Vietnam War and long-time resident of Elmhurst. The parade will feature nearly 70 entries marching through downtown Elmhurst, demonstrating the diversity and unity of the community. Elmhurst Memorial Day ParadeThe parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. at York and Third Streets and concludes at the Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park. After the parade, a Post-Parade Military Ceremony is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at the park.

An impressive line-up awaits attendees at this year’s parade, featuring four distinguished color guards, esteemed retired military officers from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Space Force, and Coast Guard, and members of the American Legion THB Post 187. Costumed Civil War re-enactors and an assortment of military vehicles will add a touch of historical flair. Members of the Elmhurst Police and Fire Departments will participate in the leading color guard.

The parade’s displays will include vehicles from Elmhurst, Oak Brook, and York Center Fire Departments, representatives of 12 scout groups, nine musical entries, and elected officials from state and municipal offices. The scout groups comprise six cub scout packs, five boy scout troops, and a girl scout unit, each entrusted with carrying commemorative banners.

Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 will proudly be represented by the York Community High School Marching Dukes band. The parade will feature performances by a variety of musical groups, including the Chicago Highlanders Pipes and Drums, Antioch Brass Quintet, Celebration Brass, Chorus of DuPage, the 144th Army Band of the Illinois Army National Guard, First United Methodist Church Bell Choir, tWest Towns Chorus, and the Merry Marchers Band.
