Edgewater Ensemble Woodwind Quintet – Elmhurst Toyota Dealer

The Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst will host an extraordinary musical event on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 7 p.m. as part of its Music at Bethel Concert Series. The evening will spotlight the Chicago-based Edgewater Ensemble Woodwind Quintet, renowned for their captivating performances. The quintet is comprised of Steve Yepez (flute), Jenny Mallette (oboe), Adrian Munive (clarinet), Lamar Curtis (bassoon), and Erika Hollenback (French horn). These skilled musicians will showcase works by marginalized composers alongside traditional wind quintet literature.

The concert will feature an eclectic mix of compositions by esteemed composers such as Mélanie Bonis, Valerie Coleman, Gary Powell Nash, and Florence F. Price, ensuring a rich and varied musical experience spanning different styles and epochs.

Pianist and Artistic Director Jeffrey Panko will join the ensemble for a special performance of Francis Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Winds. This piece, a quintessential work in the chamber music repertoire, is renowned for its brilliant interplay between piano and wind instruments. It combines Poulenc’s signature wit and melodic genius to create a memorable listening experience.
