Enjoy Wonderful Winds

Join the musicians of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra for Wonderful Winds, an online video-on-demand concert available from Saturday, May 15 through mid-June. This performance, which is the finale of the ESO’s season, will feature a stirring assortment of musical selections showcasing the extraordinary talents of ESO Principal Trombonist Thomas Stark, including Carl Maria von Weber’s “Romance for Trombone and Strings,” Antonin Dvorak’s “Serenade for Winds,” and Scott Joplin’s “Pineapple Rag.” We at McGrath Elmhurst Toyota have enjoyed all of the ESO’s video-on-demand concerts this year, and we’re looking forward to this exciting virtual event.

Stark is an in-demand trombonist in the Chicago area and across the United States. In addition to his position with the ESO, he has performed with prestigious American orchestras such as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Kansas City Orchestra and Ballet, and the Colorado Symphony in Denver. Stark is also a member of several local small brass groups. He was recently the featured soloist with the Festival Orchestra at the Birch Creek Music Performance Center.

The adjunct professor of trombone at Elmhurst University, Stark is featured on several classical, jazz, swing, and big band recordings and has performed with a variety of well-known artists, including Ronan Tynan, Josh Groban, Quincy Jones, ABBA and Maureen McGovern. He has also toured the U.S. with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Alliance Brass Quintet.

Stark and ESO Music Director and Conductor Stephen Alltop will share musical insights and commentary with viewers during the Wonderful Winds performance.
