Experience Many Turns and Feats to Bewilder – Elmhurst Toyota Dealer

February 12th, 2018 by

Elmhurst College continues its tradition of holding an annual Spring Art Exhibition. This year’s exhibition features art by master printmaker Michael Barnes and is titled Many Turns and Feats to Bewilder. His lithographs will be showcased at Elmhurst College’s Frick Center, Founders Lounge, through Saturday, March 17. You can see Barnes’ work and meet the artist at a public reception on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Here at Elmhurst Toyota, we value the cultural events our community offers and encourage you to attend Many Turns and Feats to Bewilder.

Many Turns and Feats to BewilderBarnes’ work critiques modern society and what we think of civilization itself. His lithographs often incorporate fanciful and highly imaginative figures and objects which seem isolated from their environments. The images are reflections of the events he experiences or sees in the world around him, and sometimes appear as challenges for viewers to resolve for themselves.

Barnes is an internationally renowned printmaker who has shown his work in more than 20 solo exhibitions as well as over 100 juried and group exhibitions. He graduated from Alma College in Michigan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and earned his Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Since 1998, he has been a professor of art in the printmaking program at the Northern Illinois University School of Art and Design in DeKalb, Illinois.

At the public reception on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m., Barnes will discuss his work and current exhibition, Many Turns and Feats to Bewilder. You won’t want to miss seeing this outstanding exhibition and the chance to hear the artist discuss his work.

Date and Time:
The exhibition runs through Saturday, March 17, 2018. The reception takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Michael Barnes’ artist’s talk starts at 5 p.m. (during the reception).
