Here Comes Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9

If you missed the Front 9, you have another chance to play, as the Elmhurst Art Museum presents Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9. The event takes place through Jan. 2, 2022. This is the second segment of the popular exhibition, representing a blend of the two disciplines of art and golf. At McGrath Elmhurst Toyota, we enjoy the Elmhurst Art Museum’s many offerings. Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9This art-related miniature golf course gets new challenges and layouts for the second installment. The exhibition was created in two parts, with the the Front 9 debuting in the summer. The courses feature several artistic themes and comply with Covid protocols.

The many artists participating in Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9 include Jim Merz, Vincent Lotesto, Joshua Lowe, KT Duffy, Annalee Koehn, Donna Piacenza, Eve Fineman, Liam Wilson & Anna Gershoni, David Quednau and Wesley Baker.

Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9 is a reinterpretation of Par Excellence, the exhibition presented by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988. This playable mini-golf course was developed by Chicago artist Mike O’Brien. The call for artists’ proposals saw local artists creating holes with varying degrees of difficulty. The original exhibit sold out daily. It received media coverage from CNN, People Magazine, the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Wall Street Journal. The course was ultimately converted into ArtGolf, a commercial miniature golf course.
