McCormick House Tour

The McCormick House is a part of the Elmhurst Art Museum. The home is renowned for its unique style and place in architectural history. Mies van der Rohe, a pioneer of modernist architecture, designed and built the house in 1952. Mies is famous for his international style incorporating clean lines and open, flowing spaces.

As a matter of fact, the McCormick House is one of only three homes built by Mies in the United States. His modern style used glass and steel in a way that was markedly distinct from the design of traditional single-family homes during the 1950s. Consequently, the house is a must-see for those interested in architecture and design history.

The Elmhurst Art Museum re-furnished the McCormick House, initially located on Prospect Avenue. The museum periodically offers the McCormick House Tour to visitors, allowing the community to learn more about the history and design of the home.
