Meet the Experts at the Vintage Home Show

Unity Temple Restoration Foundation (UTRF) is holding its first-ever Vintage Home Show on April 24, 2021. During this online event, experienced contractors, designers, artisans and real estate professionals will offer expert advice on the repair, renovation, restoration, purchase and resale of older homes. At McGrath Elmhurst Toyota, we appreciate programs that improve our community, and we believe this show will be a fantastic resource for area homeowners.

The Vintage Home ShowOak Park is home to many historic properties, including 25 houses and buildings designed by legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright. However, few home shows in the greater Chicagoland area are specifically geared toward owners of vintage houses. To fill that void, UTRF has partnered with the Oak Park River Forest Chamber of Commerce to assemble a group of historic home experts for the Vintage Home Show. These experts will present workshops and presentations that address a variety of old home challenges, including:

  • Researching historic homes
  • Restoring historic tile
  • Art glass repair
  • Wood flooring restoration
  • Plumbing issues
  • Introducing sustainable mechanical systems
  • Insurance for vintage properties
  • Obtaining historic certifications
  • Becoming a historic landmark
  • General construction issues
  • Financing and other real estate considerations
  • Hiring a project team

Don’t worry about getting lost in the crowd. This all-day program will feature virtual breakout rooms so small groups of guests can ask questions and get personalized advice. Guests are also free to pop in and out of the event all day to attend preferred workshops and presentations. Proceeds from the Vintage Home Show will help UTRF further its mission to preserve Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple and provide quality programming to the community.
