Take in a Film at Movie on the Green
Movie lovers will want to head out to Sugar Creek Golf Course on Saturday, September 21 for the free Movie on the Green, as the Elmhurst Park District presents a free showing of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” The event starts at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at sunset, around 7 p.m. It’s a great date night, so bring a blanket or lawn chair and arrive early to find a spot. Grab some free popcorn and buy food and beverages from the food trucks that will be on hand, including Mario’s Cart, CheSa’s Gluten Tootin Free and Ms. Tittle’s Cupcakes. At McGrath Elmhurst Toyota, we’re continually impressed by the number of free community events available here in Elmhurst, and we know this will be a great time.
“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is a quintessential teen movie that was released in 1986. Directed by John Hughes, the film stars Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller, a high school student who takes a day off from school. You’ll see many famous Chicago landmarks, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Sears Tower. Director John Hughes considered the film his love letter to Chicago. “I really wanted to capture as much of Chicago as I could,” he said. “Not just in the architecture and landscape, but the spirit.”
Cast members also include Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jennifer Grey, Edie McClurg, Ben Stein and Charlie Sheen. The movie is rated PG-13.
The Movie on the Green event is a great opportunity to enjoy a film under the stars, so you won’t want to miss “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” on Saturday. The event is sponsored by The Schiller Team.
